"How can you forget your backpack?? Its so BIG!"

Yep, I forgot my backpack today. Really. You might ask how old I am, to forget such an important thing. Here's how it happened:

I had my Spoken Japanese class at 11 am, and I had been up til really late studying for the vocab quiz for today. I got up quite early, around 8:30, and got a can of juice from the soda machine downstairs, since I was very thirsty. Went back to my room, and feel asleep unintentionally, I then woke up with a start at 10:25. It doesn't take longer than 8-10 minutes to bike to school, so I wasn't too worried about making it on time. What worried me was that I hadn't finished studying last night. So I got ready fairly quickly and checked the temperature to make sure I was dressed appropriately, grabbed my coat, and left. The unusually  unburdened feeling I had should have tipped me off, but the weather was too nice to get me down. I biked up the big hill, and waited at the stoplight for a bit before I crossed, and once across I realized I didn't have anything with me. I contemplated returning for it, but I didn't have a lot of extra time to go back and since I had only one class for the day, decided against it. I guess laziness won (I hate that hill).

Once I got to campus I asked my friend, "Hey Will, can I borrow a pencil? I forgot my backpack today!" cheerily (I rocked that quiz btw). After class I tried to hurry off as sneakily as possible before any of my friends saw me backpack-less and started asking questions. Tim caught me though. He was immediately suspicious of me and asked, "Why were you running so fast down those stairs?"
"Uhm no reason!" I'm the worst liar I know, so I just caved and told him, "Hey, so I guess what I forgot this morning? Not my cellphone, not my wallet. My backpack." His expression was worth it, and so was Balint's when I told him. They both teased me on the walk to lunch, but Balint's was great, "Okay, this is Sherida in ten years," he wobbled forward in a hurried manner for 8-10 seconds, "Whoops, I forgot my car!" Hm, I doubt I'll have a license by then, so there!

Forgetting my backpack just reminds me of the dreams I'd have as a kid, where I'd go to school without shoes on. How terrifying. Now, it doesn't sound as frightening, but it really got to me then. I mean, going to school with NO SHOES on! In your bare feet. Ack.

At least this time though, I didn't oversleep and miss class. Like when I had my Spoken Japanese Final last semester and I woke up just as it was ending. Gosh.
